At Fraser, we are building upon Hamilton Technical Day School’s fine scholastic tradition of achievement in our young people. Our foundation for excellence is built upon strong community values and the legacy of past pupils, who have established a highly respectable reputation for academic, sporting and cultural success.
We affirm the fundamental right of every student to learn to the best of their ability and potential in an environment that is positive, safe, friendly, caring and supportive of young people. We will encourage students to take pride in their School and their appearance through recognition of self identity, family and culture. Fraser High School's Board of Trustees are responsible for the governance of the school who work tirelessly to support the management, staff and students to obtain the vision and goals in the school's charter and strategic plan. The Board consists of five parent representatives, the Principal, a student representative and a staff representative.
To ensure your child achieves to the best of their ability we are committed to ensuring that we have dynamic staff with expertise in their fields of teaching in front of every class. Fraser High School is unique in Hamilton, in part because of our academic, cultural and ethnic diversity. We carefully blend the different strands to develop resilient and accomplished individuals. We place a high value on students contributing to their local communities and the world they live in. Fraser’s traditions and values enrich our new educational insights and initiatives.
He embodied old fashioned values that promoted community and family, and he played a significant role in developing the culture and community in our city and region. In 1970 the school was moved to its current location in Ellicott Road Hamilton and was renamed after Mr Fraser to Fraser High School. Mr David Campbell became the first principal of Fraser High School, modelling the new school on the timeless values of the old Hamilton Technical College. Te Kura Tuarua o Taniwharau is a direction that we aspire to leading learning in our community and nurturing many leaders.
We want you and your child to be familiar with our school, this means connecting with our community. Fraser Facebook the Fraser community may use the school’s social network for access to information about the corporate life of the school, and it is a valuable forum for timely feedback. A Year 8’s transition from a full Primary or Intermediate school to secondary school can be complicated by the social, emotional and biological changes occurring to them at this time. We understand how these changes affect our students and are better placed to support them make positive adjustments to Fraser.
Our senior student leaders actively facilitate peer support activities and mentoring. Vulnerable students are supported by holistic health care managed by the school’s Health Centre and specialised learning assistance, managed by the Learning Centre and Support Centre
