In 1923 George Patton established GE Patton Limited in Christchurch, New Zealand and by 1930 was producing a range of domestic refrigerators and flip top ice cream cabinets for the rapidly expanding local market. As business grew, new innovative products were released including chest freezers, absorption refrigerators and New Zealand’s first curved glass fronted delicatessen and frozen food cabinets. In the 1970’s G E Patton Ltd restructured and changed its name to Patton Refrigeration, moving their head office to Auckland and focussing more on the commercial refrigeration business by developing several new ranges of condensing units, air cooled condensers and unit coolers.
The 1980’s, 90’s and early 200’s saw an expansion of the New Zealand branch network, to our current level of nine, as well as opening a manufacturing and distribution facility in Sydney Australia in the 80’s. In 2006 a joint venture was established with MetJak in Perth to give Patton representation in West Australia. Patton Aero as it is known gained immediate success with the appointment of Emerson as exclusive distributor for the Middle East and Africa region. Patton recognises the need to be an active company in both environmental protection and the promotion of good working practices designed to minimise the effects of environmental pollution. These aims are being achieved by our staff taking all reasonable and practical steps to minimise workplace wastage, be it power, paper, etc, within their department. Particular attention is paid to areas of manufacturing and warehousing where noise, smoke and material wastage are kept to the minimum. Promote actions for the prevention of damage to the environment, and carry out our business in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
To minimise, if possible, the wastes, residues and emissions which are produced by its operations and to always manage them in the most environmentally effective way. To continuously co operate with our suppliers and contractors for their environmental improvement. Employ suitably competent and qualified personnel who are capable of carrying out operations in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. Patton is a credited collection agent in New Zealand for the trust company Refrigerant Recovery NZ Ltd. established in 1993 for the recovery and destruction of ozone depleting synthetic refrigerants
