What you should know about Discovery Christian Centre
Large numbers of young families were settling into new State and private homes, schools were built, and a sense of community was beginning to grow. Into this picture came the good will and concern of the people of St Andrews Presbyterian Church, River Road. To help serve this community of Fairfield, and to provide a Christian presence and witness, an enthusiastic group of people established a new church fellowship. It met at first in a large home in Clarkin Road, holding the first Sunday Service in July 1954.
By November 1958 this fellowship had grown, become independent of St Andrews, and became known as Fairfield Presbyterian Church with its own minister joining the fellowship that year. In 1977 a major change took place in the joining of two much older rural churches to Fairfield Horsham Downs Community Church, and Gordonton Presbyterian Church. Initially both of these fellowships had close links with Fairfield, but over time full Sunday and weekly ministries were developed in each place. The diversity of our life further expanded in 1986 with the arrival of our first Cambodian family from a Refugee Camp in Thailand.
Mich and Yorng Dul became Pastors of our Cambodian Fellowship and many other immigrants and later their relatives arriving in Hamilton City have found Christian encouragement and re settlement help through this ministry. In 1991 Desert Spring Ministries Trust was established to facilitate the best possible service for families in need. In May 2001 the Community Centre on Peachgrove Rd was opened that has formed home base for this developing ministry. Our links with the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand continue, and Fairfield Presbyterian Parish remains the technical name that embraces both Discovery Christian Centre and Oaks Christian Centre
English Lessons and Help Wednesdays 7 9pm We are teaching English as a second language in groups, in peoples homes.
DISCOVERY KIDS 4 11 year colds Discovery Kids is run during the school term at the 10am Sunday service. Invite your Cambodian friends and join us this is a vast opportunity to divulge them that Jesus Christ loves them!. CRECHE 0 4 year colds There are sufficient of toys and activities to keep your trivial one happy and contented, with the option for you to listen to a feed of the service at the equivalent time. This programmed teaches about life and God while having lots of laughter and activities together.
MISSION MINISTRIES Our vision is to have a diversity of mission ministries’ which are characterized by Being Christ centered and Spirit led. Every Saturday evening at Discovery Christian center at 7 00pm, Cambodian Christian Fellowship CCU meets for teaching, sharing and encouraging mission among Cambodians here in New Zealand and in Cambodia. We seek to participate in God’s mission to the entire world, so that the life and reign of the risen Christ may transform every individual, every community, and all creation a Kingdom vision for the transformation of every aspect of life, and one that will enable the participation of every Christian whatever their gifts. MISSION WITH KINGDOM VALUES Our vision is to operate with the ethics of Jesus, and also with his Kingdom values Compassion for people and lives of service. Life Together Mondays at 7 30pm A range of ages learning about God and supporting one another.

Sunday Gathering We are a church family of all ages, seeking to honor the Lord and succeed his path for life together. This means we labor together like a caring family with opportunities for people to assist each other.
Our primary calling ’Helping people find and follow Jesus’ Succeeding Jesus, ’Kingdom mission’ is what forms our life and service as God’s people. AUTHENTIC DISCIPLES Our vision is to grow transformed and active followers of Jesus. We aim to help all groups to discern God’s exceptional call for them in mission, and to foster their shared involvement in living and spreading the good news of Jesus Kingdom. We are turbulent about the church, for in relationship together we provide a growing sign that Jesus’ Kingdom really has come.
