What you should know about DEAN PHILLIPS RACING AND EQUINE EDUCATION
We are a family of horse riders Phillips Equine currently has 5 regular qualified instructors to cater for everyone. Hidden away, we have an awesome 50 acres of our own to play in plus access to neighbouring farms. We are a family based riding school that has been in the horse industry for the past 3 generations. With a love of horses and a passion for sharing that enjoyment Lorraine is considered the events co ordinator, spending hours organising and preparing events and lessons to ensure that all riders not only learn new skills but have varied and regular opportunities to put their skills into practice.
Dean Phillips was a professional jockey, riding in many races from the age of 12. Dean is renowned and respected for his horsemanship skills in particular training young horses. He is a New Zealand Racing Approved Employer and has trained many apprentices. Dean often gives demonstrations with horses, including educating young horses, shoeing, and equine dentistry. Our daughter Ell Phillips 22 years old , has a very exciting season ahead, with training and bringing on a team of horses.
Her aims are to compete in both young rider and horse grand prix classes this coming season, along with the age series classes in which she’s bringing up horses through the grades. Ell moved on from very successful seasons on ponies, finishing 2nd in Pony of the Year 2012 on Fruitalishas, and 2nd in North Island Pony Grand Prix on Guess Once More, and numerous other wins and placings. Jay is also gaining valuable experience working under race horse trainers in Cambridge. Jay assists in many of the horse activities that we run and runs the Boy's Only riding lessons.
Both Ell and Jay will be bringing out several young horses, with the aim of competing in the Young Horse Show Jumping series classes
She was given her beginning pony Twinkle when she was four years old, then Biggles at seven years old. Phillips Equine has a expansive range of horses and ponies all with individual personalities and the staff are very sensitive to matching horse and rider to retain both happy, learning and safe. Perfect show jumping or night prospect for someone to provide has a very conscientious upstanding jump and will give anything a go. We are giving a keen, competent rider the opportunity to work closely with a smart team and top horses. All of our instructors are healthy competent and experienced to ensure that you are learning in a safe, supportive environment with all the merriment horse riding is supposed to be. During school holidays, we donate fun and exciting half or full day horse riding programmed and overnight camps which caters for the complete beginner to the advanced pony club rider. When not competing or training, Ell helps her mother Lorraine mentor and instruct the many young riders who educate themselves and their horses through the Phillips Equine Riding center.
Horse riding lessons are primarily held in one of our all weather arenas which are equipped with show jumps and dressage markers. We offer horse riding lessons to all ages and abilities with a variety of ponies and horses to aid you in learning to ride. They learn horsemanship and riding skills while having fun and meeting fresh friends. Ell Phillips Ell is available for taking on horses for schooling, lessons and sales.
Activities may include farm riding trekking, learning horsemanship skills from how to catch, lead, brush saddle your pony, to dealing with difficult situations. Primarily expected to labor with a team of Showjumpers, will also labor with training horses and riding school ponies. Based in the Waikato region of Fresh Zealand, Ell competes a important team of horses throughout the country, maximum of which she has produced herself. Phillips Equine has a variety of horse riding experiences and have purpose built horse facilities, primarily set up for educating of horse riders and training of horses.
Farm rides and horse trekking we are also allowed to ride on considerable neighbors property so time is our only limit,.
