What you should know about Chapel Hill Community Church

We believe that God, in making himself known, inspired the Holy Bible that the Bible is trustworthy in its entirety and that it has supreme authority in matters of doctrine, faith and conduct. By his death and resurrection he has provided the only way for us to be forgiven and reconciled to God. We believe that the Holy Spirit brings us to repent of our sins and to trust in Jesus Christ. He lives in us, changes us inwardly, empowers us for witness through word, sign and deed, resources us for building up the Body of Christ the church , and maintains unity among us. We believe that Christ commands his church to preach the gospel throughout the world, teaching and making disciples in all nations and people groups. We're just an ordinary group of people living in suburban Rototuna in Hamilton, New Zealand.
What brings us together as a community church is a shared passion for Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus’ mission to re connect all people to the one true God through following and trusting him is just as relevant and life giving today as it was 200 years ago. Elders at Chapel Hill are asked to give a minimum term of three years, and a maximum of five, before stepping down for a mandatory six month break. In choosing elders, we refer to Paul's qualifications for eldership found in Titus 1 7 9, which in short is the description of a mature disciple exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5. Philip and wife Rebecca have three children Gabriel, Tobias and Oliver, and share a heart for authentic community a place where people are at home in the real and raw and can journey an authentic spirituality where God is discovered in the everyday of our lives, not just on Sundays or special 'spiritual' occasions. Rebecca joined the team in February 2015, and is passionate about supporting the health and life of Chapel Hill by keeping things running smoothly.
Extending the Kingdom of God in our lives, our community and our world for the glory of Jesus Christ. Unique to Jesus was his message that God’s Kingdom of goodness, mercy, grace, justice, humility, service, unity, compassion, obedience and love, was arriving through him. it was breaking into a world plagued by pain, confusion, injustice, disunity and despair and unable to free itself from this. Jesus taught that God’s kingdom is the arrival of the new community, with him enthroned as king. This turning ourselves over to God, turning away from an old way, this allowing God's way of life to transcend our current life, is called repentance.
When we repent, and when we surrender to God in Jesus as King, he unites us to himself and his community the church through the gift of his own Spirit. Jesus wants his people to introduce him to others so they too can know God's love that changes lives. We extend the kingdom by being a people of God acting together to bring the peace, love and joy of God into the lives we touch into our homes, schools, work places, community groups, neighborhoods. To facilitate this, we encourage people to get involved in life at Chapel Hill in a variety of ways.
Sunday mornings, from 10am we join together as a church family to engage in joint activities that help us focus on God who created all things, and sustains all things and to learn more of him through examining his word, the Bible. While the main service caters for adults, we also have services catered for children . Overflow Kids, our church for children’ programme caters for those aged between Year zero to Year six ages five 10 . Livewire is for our budding teens Intermediate children years , meeting in 'The Hut' behind the main church building, but attending church for the first half an hour. They are designed for two or three people to give each other permission to ask the hard questions, to receive encouragement, to be vulnerable and to give grace to one another
